What is Southeastern TAPPI?
Southeastern TAPPI is a non-profit professional organization headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia focused on adding value to the members and sponsors.
Southeastern was established as a local section in 1952 in response to the rapid and heavy growth of the pulp, paper, and forest products industry in the Southeast United States after World War II. In fact, Southeastern was the first TAPPI established in the south. As the American economy shifted toward the south, Southeastern has promoted technical knowledge exchange, encouraged networking among the members, and promoted commerce throughout the supply chain.
While Southeastern’s roots started in the forest products industry, today these roots have spread to include the pulp & paper, converting, printing, packaging, lumber, chemical by-products, and the allied services that support manufacturing. The allied industries that impacted Southeastern’s members and sponsors include transportation, logics, information technology, sales, power generation, environmental, engineering, construction, and many more. Southeastern is a diverse organization to meet the needs of such a diverse group.
The mission of Southeastern is to:
Advance new technology and practices
Promote the exchange of technology and best practices
Provide professional development training
Grow and provide opportunities for commerce
